The wonder of tide pools

One day in Hawaii, we wandered out the back door and found some of our friends exploring the beach.  It was a very different looking beach.  The water had receded and a lot of the coral was exposed.  We had thought this was an interesting place to snorkel, but so many of these things are hidden when you are looking at them underwater.  It was fascinating!  Don't ask me to tell you what any of these slimy things are, though.  Sea cucumber, sea slugs, maybe (?) and of course, an interesting looking hermit crab.

I couldn't help but think, my kids would have loved it there:

My kids LOVE beach combing during "low tide" It's definitely a family favorite!!!
